DeSimone – Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is great so far.  Although, I have not done much sightseeing yet.  I heard that the best way to reduce jet lag is to stay up all night the day before and sleep for as much of the plane ride as possible.  I can now say, that advice defiantly helped me adjust to the 8 hour time difference.

It is also HOT, but no worries I have plenty of sunscreen packed.  It is not as bad in the shade. And the evenings feel great! Between 5pm and 8pm local time is when I’ve seen the most people are outside.

I have had two days of work at DeSimone so far.  The first day I spent looking at drawings and structural plans.  The second, I spent going through tutorials for SAFE – a CSI program that is very good at concrete slab design and analysis.

I can already tell that this is going to be a great summer!

I am also a member of Lehigh’s chapters of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Chi Epsilon, and Tau Beta Pi. In semesters where my schedule has permitted, I have also been an Engineering Tour Guide for the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering. View all posts by luelaine15
