Skiing in Pennsylvania

This past Friday I went skiing at Camelback Mountain Resort with some friends.  A group of us in the Live Lehigh Outdoor Adventure House (along with a few others outside the house) decided to get season passes and so this was just our first trip of the year.  The college pass Camelback offered was just $200 and you can use it anytime except during the day on Saturdays.  Though it’s about a 45 minute drive from campus, we plan on going every Friday and possibly more!

Despite it being above freezing most of last week, conditions on the mountain were surprisingly good as they were able to maintain a lot of the snow that was made earlier in the season.  Being from Western New York, I’m not used to skiing on entirely man-made snow which is usually more wet and slower than natural snow.  Yet my area doesn’t have the larger mountains that Pennsylvania does.  Currently it is snowing outside at Lehigh and is supposed to continue all day, hopefully resulting in a few inches.  And with a cold weather forecast for the rest of the week, conditions should be great on Friday!  Now into my 16th season, skiing is easily my all-time favorite thing to do and I’m so glad I’ve been able to continue doing it at Lehigh.

Edit:  I’ll try to take pictures this week or maybe even a video.

Hey! I'm Karl, a civil engineer in my senior year at Lehigh University. I am from the Buffalo/Western New York area and am the president of the American Society of Civil Engineers on campus. I am also on the Running Club team, practice electric and classical guitar, and study music theory on my own. I enjoy playing and watching sports with my friends in my free time (or the times when I probably should be studying). View all posts by lukarl15
