Happy Hump Day!

Hello all! So as of right now, I have one presentation completed and one more to go (at 2:15 today). My upcoming presentation will be for my Ground Improvement class, where I will talk about the method of “Ground Freezing” during construction. I have worked with a Grad Student on this presentation, and I’m hoping it goes well!

The presentation earlier this morning was for my Transportation Engineering class. In this project, I worked with four other classmates and researched the Railway Industry in the US, specifically passenger rails. My focus in the presentation was about the Sustainability of the Rail/Train Industry. Another civil engineering classmate and I split up the factors of sustainability and spoke about them in our part of the presentation. Our professor had good comments for us after the presentation was over, so I think it went well overall!

After today, I have a few assignments due on Friday then finals week starts. As of today I have seven days until I return home for Winter Break, which came about very quickly, as did everything this semester!

it’s interesting to see how many different factors of civil engineering I have learned in the last 3.5 years – just today I am presenting material on both Ground Improvement Techniques and Sustainability of Public Transportation. I did not think that Civil engineering could ever be so broad, but I am glad that I have taken classes that have shown me the vast opportunities in this field. Sometimes, both the schoolwork and future career possibilities are a little overwhelming (hence the picture above), but it is an awesome feeling to know that there are rarely any limits in what you can achieve in engineering.
