Job Interview, Take 2

So this past week has been a hectic one! This past Monday I was in Philadelphia for a civil engineering interview, and it was not exactly what I expected but I think it went well overall! The city of Philadelphia has many job opportunities in a variety of areas, such as water resources, transportation, construction/inspections. I was pretty nervous for this interview, because this is a job that I’d really like to have. The content of the interview was more problem solving/analytical thinking and less personal questions such as “Tell us about yourself”.

I felt prepared when answering the questions, and to be honest, I felt more at ease answering engineering questions rather than personal questions. In addition to the questions, I was also a little thrown off by the amount of people applying for this job! I walked into the floor I was told, and upon entering, I saw about 13 other students in the waiting room! This was a little intimidating at 830am on a Monday morning. Thankfully, I felt confident because of my Lehigh background and I walked into the interview with a clear head.

Since there were so many people, there was a bit of a delay. In total, I was there for about 2 hours! It was a pretty long day, and after which I hopped into the car with my mom and drove straight back to Lehigh! I will hear back from the City of Philadelphia in about 5 weeks (just in time to hear back about my Fe Exam!) and I will update on that when the time comes!

I am currently a senior at Lehigh University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. My blog this semester will be about my last undergraduate year at Lehigh: academics, social events & unexpected day to day occurrences. I'm really excited to share my thoughts, stories, and advice with anyone reading, since I know that all students go through very similar experiences. I can't wait to explore all of the opportunities that the field of Civil Engineering has to offer & I'm excited to live out my last year at Lehigh to the fullest! View all posts by lusamantha14
