Road Trip! Part II

Yesterday we spent the day traveling all over western Slovenia. First we went to Škocjan caves (pronounced “Scoat-syan”) which was one of the most amazing natural features any of us had ever seen. Inside the cave lies the largest underground canyon in Europe with a maximum depth of 150 meters. Unfortunately, it was far too dark for any pictures to come out. The picture below is the exit of the cave, which gives one an idea of its enormity.
Next we drove to the Lipica Horse Farm where we had a chance to see their famous white horses perform. We were then given a tour of the stables and had a chance to see the ponies. In the first few months of their lives these horses have a black coat and with time, it is replaced by the iconic, white coat.
Our day concluded with wine tasting at a vineyard in Kras. The landlords were very welcoming and served us some of the best wine they produce.
