This is Fritz Lab, the Civil Engineering building on campus. Here is were we do soil testing, AutoCAD projects/classes, meet with professors, etc. Probably the coolest thing about Fritz is that there are two high-bay testing ares on the main floor of the building. One of these houses the 5 million-pound testing machine pictured below. This machine is used regularly to test structural members and components for industry and research. When you’re in the building and something being tested fails (i.e. it gets pulled apart), you can actually feel the building shake. Future CivE’s, welcome to your department building!
